Messi scores and Argentina maintains its unbeaten record (video)

The star Lionel Messi scored a goal after returning to the Argentina national team, which won a marginal match against its guest Venezuela 3-0, Friday, in the penultimate 17th round of the South American qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup in football.

After securing qualification for the World Cup some time ago, Argentina consolidated a series of 30 unbeaten matches.

After midfielder Rodrigo de Paul, who had two assists for Nicolas Gonzalez (34) and Angel Di Maria (79), played a peeled pass for Messi, the best player in the world seven times, he followed it into the net (82).

Messi was absent from the last two games for Argentina to rest.

Argentina raised its tally to 38 points from 16 matches, four points behind leaders Brazil, and they are the only two without a loss so far in the unified group with a match less than all competitors, while Venezuela, bottom of the ranking, was the first team to be eliminated from the competition.

While the first four teams from South America qualify and the fifth is in an international play-off with the fifth of Asia, the five-time world champions Brazil (a record), Argentina (twice), Ecuador and Uruguay (twice) have so far qualified for them.

Peru (21), Colombia (20) and Chile (19) are competing for fifth place on Tuesday in the last 18 round.

Chile plays Uruguay, Peru plays Paraguay and Venezuela plays Colombia.
