Qualifying for the Saudi Grand Prix in the Formula 1 World Championship has been suspended after Haas driver Mick Schumacher suffered a serious accident in the second period of testing.

The Haas team said on Saturday that Schumacher appeared "unconscious" and was on his way to the medical center.

Schumacher hit the barriers in the 12th corner, about 5 minutes before the end of the second session of the official test, and the car was badly damaged, to raise the red flags.

Schumacher's condition was not immediately clear, and immediately after that, a Formula 1 medical car, along with an ambulance, entered the track in Jeddah.

"We have heard that Mick (Schumacher) has passed out, he has gotten out of the car and is on his way to the medical centre," Haas later wrote on Twitter.
