Yesterday, Charlotte Kalla, 34, announced that the Swedish Championships week in Piteå will be her last competitions as an elite athlete.

Today, after taking the Swedish Championship bronze in the 10 km classic, she did her first interview and told that there is a pretty big risk that she will soon start to doubt her decision.

"I am aware that there will certainly be some doubt," she told SVT Sport, and continued:

- The hardest thing has been when people reminded me of what journey I have made, because I have only looked ahead until now.

Does it feel scary?

Is there a concern for the future?

- Yes, it would have been safe to continue to be an elite athlete.

But I like challenges.

And I'm a control freak who would like to keep track, but it will be a big challenge.

"Still very fresh"

She does not know what she will do in the future.

- I have not wanted to think too much about details about what the future will contain, and the decision is still very fresh, she says.
