It was reported that Ajax Amsterdam goalkeeper Andre Onana survived what appeared to be a fatal car accident on his way to participate with his country in the qualifying playoff for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar against Algeria.

Reports indicated that Onana, 25, was traveling from the capital, Yaounde, to his country's training camp in Douala, when the accident occurred on Tuesday morning.

Fortunately, local media revealed that the international goalkeeper was not injured in the accident, and there were no other injuries except for serious damage to the front of the car.

This means that Onana will remain available for Cameroon's crucial World Cup match with Algeria next Friday.

Onana, who joined Ajax in 2016 and won two Eredivisie titles, recently announced that he will not sign a new contract with the Dutch team.

However, he decided it was time for a new challenge once his contract expired in June.

Reports indicated that Onana will join Inter Milan in a free transfer deal at the end of the current season.

The goalkeeper has already signed a 5-year deal with an annual salary of 3 million euros.

Onana will remain the number one goalkeeper for Ajax until June because the other goalkeeper, Martin Stecklenburg, is absent for the rest of the season due to injury.
