Premier League champions Manchester City topped Deloitte's list of the world's richest football clubs for the first time.

The current leaders of the English Premier League became the fourth club ever to top the Deloitte list, which is published annually to announce the highest-earning and best-performing football clubs in terms of revenue in the world.

The “Citizens” revenues amounted to about 680 million euros during the 2020-2021 season, which made the “Heavenly Club” rise from sixth place in the standings to the fore this year.

The list of the top ten teams includes:

  • Manchester City: about 680 million euros

  •  Real Madrid: 641 million euros

  • Bayern Munich: 611 million euros

  • Barcelona, Spain: 582 million euros

  • Manchester United: 558 million euros

  • Paris Saint-Germain: 556 million euros

  • Liverpool: 550 million euros

  • Chelsea: 493 million euros

  • Juventus: 433 million euros

  • Tottenham Hotspur: 406 million euros

  • The English Premier League clubs imposed their dominance at the top, with 11 of their clubs in the top 20, including Wolverhampton, which is in this high ranking for the first time.

Match revenues in all leagues fell to an all-time low, amounting to 111 million euros, or 1% of total club revenues, due to the impact of playing behind closed doors during the height of the Corona virus pandemic in the continent of Europe.

Broadcast revenue was up €1.4 billion from 2019-20, but this is largely due to the delay in the distribution of funds after local competitions were suspended and then completed later in the year.
