Shohei Ohtani of the Major League Baseball Angels participated in the open game for the first time and made a timely hit.

On the 19th, Otani started as the second designated hitter in the open match against the Diamondbacks at the Angels camp in Arizona.

He faced a minor contracted right-handed pitcher, Dan Straily, at Diamondbacks without a one-out runner in his first at-bat and fell to a short grounder.

In the second at bat of the second inning, he played against Straily again with a chance of 2 outs and 3rd base, and even though he was stuck in a fastball with a high in-course, he carried it in front of the left and hit a timely hit.

Otani was sent a pinch hitter in the third inning and retired, and in the first game of the open game, he had 1 hit and 1 RBI in 2 at bats.

Otani's first pitching as a pitcher is scheduled for the Royals match on the 21st.
