The board of the International Ice Hockey Federation announced last month that it is suspending Russia and Belarus from all international competitions, and has deprived them of the hosting of the Junior World Cup 2023, due to the war in Ukraine.

Now the Russian Federation announces that they have submitted an appeal to the IIHF's disciplinary committee.

"Cause of intolerance"

On their website, they write that the IIHF's measures against Russian athletes are discriminatory.

"Banning players from international competitions based on their nationality gives rise to intolerance in the media, and can lead to divisions within the ice hockey community, which has always been known for its unity," they also write.
