  Lin Sitong, 22 years old this year, suffered from lower limb paralysis at the age of 4 due to sudden acute myelitis, and has been in a wheelchair for life since then.

  "Ever since I can remember, I have hated wheelchairs. I feel that God is very unfair, and I will miss the wonderful world outside in my life." Recalling those dark days, Lin Sitong said that even when he went to school, he couldn't be happy, and he slowly changed. I have low self-esteem, I don’t like to talk much, and I don’t like to communicate with people.

  Such days continued until the age of 13, and sports brought a turning point in Lin Sitong's life.

In 2013, the Fujian Provincial Disabled Sports Team selected players. With the support and encouragement of the disabled people's federations at all levels, teachers and family members, Lin Sitong started training in Ningde with the mentality of trying it out. In less than a month, she entered the school. Fujian Province Disabled Track and Field Team.

  A year later, Lin Sitong won the first medal in the shot put field of the National Disabled Athletics Championships.

In 2015, as the youngest athlete in Fujian, Lin Sitong participated in the 9th National Disabled Games for the first time and won the first gold medal in his personal sports career.

  "I am very lucky. According to the popular saying, it is a lucky 'koi'." Lin Sitong said.

  Behind the luck, more is the long-term hard work.

When Lin Sitong came to the Fujian Provincial Disabled Track and Field Team in 2013, his foundation was almost zero.

In order to enhance her arm strength and explosiveness and improve her shooting speed, the head coach Chen Jianmin asked her to use both hands to slide a wheelchair uphill on a 150-meter-long ramp every day, 3 sets of 5 sets each time, and several hundred times of softball pitching practice.

  "At that time, I was crying every day to train. My muscles were very painful, and I felt uncomfortable when I went to bed at night." Lin Sitong said that he couldn't adapt to living independently. In the past, his parents took care of him. It is difficult to accept that things have to be handled by oneself.

  The hardships in training and the helplessness in life made Lin Sitong think of giving up many times.

But every time, she gritted her teeth and persevered. "The pain is there, and the feeling that life is there means that hope is there."

  Baojianfeng emerges from sharpening, and the fragrance of plum blossoms comes from bitter cold.

In 2017, at the Asian Youth Disabled Games held in Dubai, Lin Sitong threw a personal best of 22.23 meters in the women's javelin and won the gold medal; 2018 Jakarta Asian Disabled Games, 2019 10th National Disabled Games , In the 11th National Games for the Disabled in 2021, Lin Sitong won two gold medals in the javelin and shot put.

  "It's like fighting monsters to level up, every progress is accumulating combat value." Lin Sitong said with a smile, after winning the gold medal, he wanted to achieve better results and persisted.

  The repeated competitions and the medals made Lin Sitong gradually realize his own value and shining points, become cheerful and confident, and bloom his youthful life on the wheelchair.

  Lin Sitong said that he hoped that people with disabilities who lack physical activity can participate in sports more, try different things, and reconcile with their physical shortcomings.
