Jeon Sang-gyun, who placed 4th in weightlifting at the 2012 London Olympics, won the bronze medal.

This is because the Russian athlete, who was in third place at the time, was disqualified for doping.

This is the exclusive report by Kwon Jong-oh.

Jeon Sang-gyun, who lifted a total of 436 kg in the men's heavyweight division at the London Olympics, finished fourth in the competition behind Russia's Ruslan Albegov.

Albegov passed the doping test at the London Olympics and won the bronze medal, but five years later, in 2017, a new test revealed that he was taking banned substances.

After a close investigation, the International Weightlifting Federation finally canceled all his bronze medals and records.

According to the official website of the International Weightlifting Federation, Jeon Sang-gyun, who was in 4th place, was promoted to 3rd, and Albegov, who was 3rd, was disqualified.

The IOC is currently reviewing the proposal to award a bronze medal to Jeon Sang-gyun, but unless there is something unusual, he will be promoted.

[Jeon Sang-gyun / London Olympic weightlifting national team: (final) It is a position that is waiting only for notification.

If I can get my medals back, I wonder if it would feel a bit real.]

With this, Korea added three medals due to doping by athletes from other countries only in weightlifting at the London Olympics.

Ms. Jang Mi-ran, who was in 4th place, was promoted to bronze medal, and Min-jae Kim jumped from 8th to 2nd and took the silver medal due to group doping of top-ranking athletes.
