For the first time ever, a mixed relay, where ladies and gentlemen compete with each other, in cross-country skiing on Sunday in Falun.

In the future, we can see mixed relay also at the 2026 Olympics. The Norwegian team leader, Ole Morten Iversen, has received indications from Fis and Iok.

- There have been signals from Iok and Fis about it.

They want new competitions and then someone has to leave.

One suggestion is that the relay disappears and that it instead becomes a mixed relay.

It has been presented at meetings and I have seen it in writing from Fis and Iok, says the Norwegian team leader Ole Morten Iversen to Dagbladet.

"Will lobby for them to stay"

The Swedish length manager Anders Byström thinks that today's mixed relay was successful.

- I think it was great fun to watch.

There are many who have heard of it and said that it was exciting so I think we will see more of this, says Byström to SVT Sport.

But at the same time he hopes that the classic women's and men's relays will continue to be run in the future.

- It has been talked about before.

There have been quite a few teams in the championship and there will not be enough for it to be interesting.

But I think it will be to remove the relay as it is a traditional branch that Sweden has been good at for many years.

Do you think the classic relays are in danger?

- No I do not think so.

I will lobby for the relays to remain where I sit on the FIS committee.

But if there are many others who want it removed, it must be replaced.
