Mortada Mansour denies suspending Mahmoud Alaa until the end of the season

Counselor Mortada Mansour, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Football Club, Zamalek, confirmed that no other penalties were issued for the players, other than those he announced yesterday, Friday evening, after the 1-0 loss to Moroccan Wydad in the fourth round of the group stage matches of the African Champions League.

Mansour said in statements carried by his club's official website today, Saturday, that what was reported about stopping Mahmoud Alaa, the team's defender, until the end of the season, is not true.

Counselor Mortada Mansour had announced the non-renewal of the Moroccan players Ashraf Bencharki and his compatriot Mohamed Onajem, Tariq Hamed, Mohamed Abu Jabal and Omar Al-Saeed, whose contracts expire at the end of the season.

And the club president decided to offer Seif El-Din Al-Jaziri for sale, and to sign a fine of 200,000 pounds on Mahmoud Alaa for insulting the fans, and to stop all team dues until the end of the season, and to rely on some of the 2003 team players to complete the league competition.

Wydad leads Group D with nine points, while Zamalek is in third place with two points.
