Hamilton admits the difficulty of competing for the title of "Formula 1" this season

Mercedes' British driver Lewis Hamilton fears that he may face great difficulties that may not enable him to compete for an unprecedented record-breaking eighth Formula One world title.

And one week before the start of the new season for Formula One, Hamilton confirmed that his Mercedes team is behind Red Bull, led by Dutch world champion Max Verstappen, and behind Ferrari in the ranking of the teams participating in the world championship.

"It's too early to have such thoughts about the world championships, but at the moment I don't think we can compete for wins," Hamilton said today.

"I'm sure everyone can understand that we are not the fastest, Ferrari seems to be the fastest, then maybe Red Bull and then maybe us."

"I feel the car is completely different from last year's car, it doesn't look as good," the British driver said.

"We have bigger challenges that are not transitions that last a week and then pass, it takes a longer period, I was told we have a lot of speed to reach."
