Professional soccer K-League 1 Jeju United pushed Jeonbuk Hyundai, a powerhouse that is challenging for the championship for 6 consecutive years, into a swamp of 3 consecutive losses.

Jeju defeated Jeonbuk 2-0 thanks to Joo Min-gyu, who scored 1 goal and 1 assist in the K League 1 round 5 home match held at the Jeju World Cup Stadium on the 12th.

With this, Jeju continued their unbeaten streak in 4 matches (2 wins, 2 draws) after losing 3-0 against the Pohang Steelers in the opening match, increasing their points for the season to 8.

In particular, it was more meaningful for Jeju to defeat Jeonbuk in the K League since it was the first time in 4 years and 9 months since the 2-1 win at home on July 12, 2017.

In the meantime, Jeju had 5 draws and 8 losses in 13 matches with Jeonbuk until last year, except in 2020, when they were relegated to K League 2.

On the other hand, Jeonbuk, which is aiming to win the league 6 times in a row and 10 times, has recently faced a major crisis from the beginning of the season as they have lost 3 consecutive losses.

After the 1-0 win over Suwon FC in the opening match against Suwon FC, Jeonbuk remained on 4 points with 4 draws (1 draw and 3 losses) and did not show the best form of the league at all.

Above all, his poor scoring ability with only two goals in five matches is making Jeonbuk even more humble.

Jeju broke the balance early in a match between teams that needed a turnaround.

In the 10th minute of the first half, Jumin Gyu headed a cross that Gerso dug into the left side of the penalty area and shook the net.

It was Jumin-gyu's goal this season, who became the top scorer for the first time in five years as a Korean player with 22 goals last year.

Jeonbuk coach Kim Sang-sik, who was hit, immediately drew his sword.

The under-22 (U-22) volunteers Lee Ji-hoon and Lee Yun-kwon, who were sent out as starters, were removed, and Kim Seung-dae and Song Min-gyu were put in to form a new offensive line.

Jeju coach Nam Ki-il also called in Kim Myeong-soon and Hong Seong-wook, who were also U-22 volunteers two minutes later, and sent Ahn Hyeon-beom and Kim Bong-su to set the fire.

In the 38th minute of the first half, Jeju changed Jung Woo-jae, who was not in good shape, to Lee Ji-sol and rearranged the defensive line.

Jeonbuk, suffering from a severe goal drought, had the upper hand in possession of the ball, but there was no stall.

Jeonbuk recorded 4 shots like Jeju in the first half, but never had a shot on target.

Jeonbuk, who could not create any significant opportunities in the second half, used two replacement cards in the 23rd minute of the second half and replaced Ilyuchenko and Kim Seung-dae, who was in the first half, with Gustavo and Park Jin-seop to increase the score.

Immediately after that, at a corner kick, Jin-soo Kim connected the ball kicked with a header with a left-footed non-stop shot, but it hit the post and swallowed the disappointment.

In the 28th minute of the second half of Jeju Island, a left-footed shot from Lee Chang-min, who received a pass from Jerso, caught in the foot of Jeonbuk Jin-soo, within the penalty area, and missed an additional scoring opportunity.

Jeonbuk did their best to make up for it by sending Lee Seung-gi out of Kunimoto in the 35th minute of the second half, but in the 39th minute of the second half, Kim Joo-gong got a key goal and knelt down.

In the 33rd minute of the second half, Jo Na-Ran Ling and Kim Joo-Gong replaced the ball from the front of the midfield by Ju Min-Gyu, rushing into the penalty area and kicking it with his right foot to put a wedge in the game.
