When BK Häcken took over Kopparbergs / Göteborgs operations last year, national team player Elin Rubensson had become a mother.

Now the damallsvenska top club writes that they have developed a pregnancy policy.

It means, among other things, an individually adapted training plan during and after pregnancy, that the maternity and parental benefit is "topped up" six months before and after the birth and that the player's contract is extended over a transfer window if the player has less than one year left on the contract.

- To put it bluntly: it would be foolish of us not to offer players support to be able to start a family and at the same time continue their elite career, as we would then risk losing our best players far too soon, says club manager Marcus Jodin to the club's website .

"No need to worry"

The baby is scheduled for September and Loes Geurts told about the happy news at a training this week.

The 36-year-old Dutchwoman has played for the club for several years and is happy with the support available.

- It feels really good that I do not have to worry about my football career, even though we have chosen to get pregnant.

Ten years ago, it might have meant the end of his career, but that is no longer the case.

I feel one hundred percent support from the club, she says.

Geurts, who competes with national team goalkeeper Jennifer Falk, played four league games for Häcken last year.
