There was no first place for Sara Hector after the first giant slalom race in a sunny Åre.

The 29-year-old accounted for a few misses on the slopes and lost some time.

- Some mistakes too much and I was crazy nervous so it was good that I am no longer behind in the finish anyway.

I saw that I was eight tenths behind at the last split and that was a bit much, says Hector to SVT Sport.

The Swedish Olympic champion, who was the sixth skier in the order, finished third, 29 hundredths behind Petra Vlhova.

- Without those mistakes, it would surely have been really, really good, says Hector.

Hector today has the opportunity to secure the giant slalom cup.

The Swedish Olympic champion is 55 points ahead of second place Tessa Worley and if there is a difference of 101 points at the end of the competition, Hector wins.

And Hector has a head start after the first run.

Worley did not keep the same speed as the Swede and was 31 hundredths slower.
