Submitting the recommendations of the National Council Committee on the issue of sports development at the end of April

Al Hammadi: Establishments, budgets and long-term strategies... the most important challenges of sport in the country

Adnan Hamad Al Hammadi: We found that our teams' results in Olympic and continental competitions are modest.

The head of the Education, Culture, Youth, Sports and Media Affairs Committee, Member of the Federal National Council, Adnan Hamad Al Hammadi, revealed that the committee’s work on the issue of the General Sports Authority’s policy regarding support and development of the sports sector in the country is proceeding according to the time plan set for it, and the committee is scheduled to submit its report And the recommendations of its work for discussion and final approval, at the end of next April, that is, after the blessed month of Ramadan.

Al Hammadi told "Emirates Today" that "the committee recently met with 28 sports federations to complete the plan, and then communication will be with the National Olympic Committee, all public and private sports clubs in the country, and associations, and in the last stage, the results of the outputs will be discussed with the General Sports Authority before leaving." The final scenario will be presented for discussion to the National Council, in the presence of the President of the General Sports Authority, and then submitted to the Council of Ministers for approval.

The competent committee of the National Council for the Study of Sports Policy in the State had begun its work some time ago, by meeting with the sports councils in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah, with the aim of discussing the problems and challenges facing the sports movement in the country, which suffers a decline on multiple levels, including the results of the national team in reel. Humble foot, useless Olympic entries.

Al Hammadi expected that the discussion of the topic would be completed at the end of next May, as it would take into account the process of coordination and harmony between all sports institutions in the country to work in one crucible.

Al Hammadi said, "We tried to monitor the difficulties facing sports federations, which focus on providing facilities, tools, trained personnel, budgets, long-term strategies, and encouraging incentives for women, to empower them according to the vision of the rational leadership."

Al Hammadi stressed that the policy of the General Sports Authority has not been discussed for a long time, and hence the role of the committee in the National Council, because the Sports Authority is the government authority concerned with sponsoring and developing sports, and improving the results of the national teams comes through drawing policies in which everyone participates.

Al Hammadi indicated that “we found that the results of our teams in the Olympic and continental participations are modest, and the representation of the state in the continental federations has declined, and after sitting with the authority there will be recommendations in which everyone will participate, and each sports federation will have its own goals and vision in making champions, and achieving distinguished results for the UAE ».

Al Hammadi thanked all the sports federations that participated in the last meeting for their interaction with the committee, and their keenness to develop sports work in the country.

It is noteworthy that the General Sports Authority submitted the draft Sports Law 2022 to the Council of Ministers in an earlier period, and it is expected that it will be discussed in the coming period, which helps the committee in harmonizing the authority’s policy in developing the sports sector, and the articles of law that support that.

The National Council committee headed by Al Hammadi includes: Shatha Al Naqbi, Nasser Al Yamahi, Dr. Sheikha Al Tunaiji, Afra bin Hindi, Sarah Flinkaz, and Aisha Al Bayrak.
