Since Russia began the invasion of Ukraine, Roman Abramovich has announced that he will sell Chelsea.

But the sale will have to wait.

On Thursday, Britain announced that it is imposing sanctions on seven Russian oligarchs - and Abramovich is one of them.

He gets his assets frozen and thus can not sell Chelsea.

He is also punished with a travel ban.

"There is no refuge for those who support Putin's aggression on Ukraine," said Prime Minister Boris Johnson about the sanctions list, according to Reuters.

May not sell tickets

Johnson says that measures have been taken that will not affect the Chelsea club more than necessary.

However, the sanctions mean that the Premier League giant is not allowed to sell more tickets.

Season card holders are allowed to go to matches.

Chelsea are also not allowed to buy players, extend contracts or sell club equipment.
