Cross-country skier Benjamin Daviet, from Haute-Savoie, won gold in cross-country sprint skiing (standing category) on Wednesday at the Paralympic Games in Beijing, bringing a sixth medal to France.

On the sunny slopes of the Nordic site of Zhangjiakou, the native of Annecy dominated the German Marco Maier and the Ukrainian Grygorii Vovchynskyi.

It's revenge for Benjamin Daviet, tricolor flag bearer at the opening ceremony, who had failed the day before in a disappointing sixth place in the medium distance biathlon.

France now has six medals (including four gold), which places it in 4th place in the country ranking.
