Chelsea coach: Proud of our performance and results despite the club's "instability"

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel said the club's impending sale has left the club in a cloud of instability, but the squad are determined not to be affected on the pitch.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich announced the club's offer for sale last week after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, amid international pressure on the businessman over his relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin, although Abramovich denied these links.

Chelsea, third in the English Premier League, scored a string of three victories before visiting bottom club Norwich City tomorrow.

"Clearness is always better than ambiguity, but we have achieved good results and with a convincing performance in a period of instability at the club and this makes us proud," Tuchel told reporters.

"It's difficult to operate normally, so the club and everyone on the training ground should be given a lot of appreciation," he added.

Striker Romelu Lukaku, the club's most expensive player, missed the last league game and the German coach said it was "not easy" for the Belgian to watch a game from outside the pitch.

"He is an important element of the team and sometimes players are not satisfied with the choices of the starting lineup and there is always a chance for Lukaku because Kai (Haverts) can play in various positions in attack. "He (Lukaku) does not like this situation for sure, but he deals in a professional manner and I seek to support him."

Defender Andreas Christensen's contract expires at the end of the season and Tuchel admitted he was persuaded to leave the Denmark player in the summer after refusing to renew his contract.

He continued, "We are not happy with that and we thought it was best for him to stay, but he has not renewed his contract yet, so we are considering the possibility of his departure."
