The International Judo Federation has approved holding the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Judo Championships from October 21 to 23, instead of next November.

Mohammed bin Thaloub Al Darei, President of the Emirates Wrestling and Judo Federation, stressed that what encourages the continuation of hosting the international championship, which is held in 5 world capitals, including Abu Dhabi, is the distinguished sports infrastructure in the Emirates, as well as the tourist attractions that the country enjoys.

He said: "These components have contributed to the capital Abu Dhabi's hosting of many international sporting events, which is the goal we always strive for, and the coming period will witness the start of work to prepare for the championship in coordination with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, the permanent partner in the successes of the Federation."

In the same context, the Iraqi Judo Federation submitted a request to participate in the upcoming Abu Dhabi Grand Slam edition, to be the first developed country to participate in this event.
