The new world record in pole vault is 6.19 and it belongs to Armand Duplantis.

The Swede stood for hope on Monday night in Belgrade.

The Swedish national team captain Kajsa Bergqvist - with, among other things, three World Cup golds and an Olympic bronze in high jump - is particularly impressed by that record listing.

- That he can set a world record again ... it is completely unique in itself.

Because he is so incredibly talented, I think we will see many more world records of "Mondo" in his career, she says.

"Means a lot"

It took Duplantis 51 attempts to pass 6.19.

He celebrated wildly after the successful jump.

- It means a lot to him.

He has broken world records before, but then the development has progressed all the time.

Now he has really had to fight to cope with this step.

He has jumped incredibly well over the past year, so it was well deserved, says Bergqvist.

In less than two weeks, the indoor World Cup in Belgrade awaits.

- He probably wants to take home that World Cup gold now.

It's just going to salvage it.
