The British Minister of Culture Nadine Dorries held the video meeting together with the Minister of Sports Nigel Huddleston.

The meeting was attended by sports ministers from nations such as the USA, Japan and Canada as well as a number of EU countries, including Anders Ygeman (S) from Sweden, writes the site Inside the games.

Just over a week ago, Ygeman submitted a proposal to the EU to work for a joint decision to exclude Russians and Belarusians.

The EU has not yet taken a decision on the issue.

But a large number of international sports federations have already decided to ban these countries from competing internationally.

Among other things, the International Olympic Committee has called on sports to exclude Russians and Belarusians.

The 26 sports ministers agreed to work for the same thing, which will be more like a celebration.

In addition, they want to prevent money from the Russian state from ending up in the sports economy.

Ministers should also call on the countries' national sports organizations to show solidarity with the Ukrainian people.
