Lewandowski responds to Russia's invasion of Ukraine via China

Bayern Munich and Poland striker Robert Lewandowski has terminated his contract with the Chinese technology giant "Huawei", which the media accused of collaborating with Russia in the context of its war on Ukraine.


The company denied the accusations, describing them as "fake news".


"Today we have taken the decision to terminate the marketing cooperation between Robert Lewandowski and Huawei. Accordingly, the investigation of all promotional services by us has been suspended," without specifying the reason for the termination of the contract, the agent of the best player in the world, Thomas Zavilak, said in a statement.


The Polish media indicated that this decision is linked to an article published by the British daily "Daily Mail" accusing Huawei of helping Russia secure its Internet against hackers loyal to Ukraine.


In its article, the newspaper mentioned a report published on a Chinese website, which has since disappeared.


The Chinese group confirmed the termination of the contract between it and Lewandowski in a very brief statement.


"Huawei CBJ Poland regrets the termination of its partnership with Robert Lewandowski. We appreciate the years of cooperation between us for many years and wish him every success in the future," Huawei said in an email to AFP.


The China Group's Poland branch clarified in the following sentence that the Daily Mail's story was "fake news" and that "the information it contains is incorrect."


On the first Saturday after the Russian attack on Ukraine, Lewandowski wore a badge in the colors of Ukraine during a match.
