Leverkusen shocks Real Madrid and Bayern

German club Bayer Leverkusen rejected the departure of its talented star Florian Wirtz to any European club, before 2024, saying that the club is holding on to him until this date at least.

The 18-year-old Wirtz made his first appearance with Leverkusen in 2020 and participated in four matches with the German national team.

His contract expires in 2026, but he is very much wanted by Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

"We are trying to keep him for as long as possible," Leverkusen chairman Fernando Caro said in a press statement.

Wirtz is currently the most prominent young star in Europe, and Bayern and Real have been trying hard to sign him for some time.
