Lina Korsgren has won the Vasaloppet the last two years and before that Britta Johansson Norgren also had two victories.

The last time anyone other than these two won was Katerina Smutna 2016.

Now the Norwegian Astrid Øyre Slind has broken the dominance.

The 34-year-old was totally superior after she broke away from Johansson Norgren after about 60 km in Oxberg.

Thereafter, the distance increased slowly but surely kilometer by kilometer.

Record time

The victory distance was written to almost three minutes down to the Swede.

It is Øyre Slind's first victory in the Vasaloppet and on the way to the finish line in Mora she was able to parade into the race with the wreath over her head.

- This is her biggest victory in her career.

She is the strongest last half of the race today.

She has a great day, says SVT's expert Anders Blomquist.

In addition, she finished in a record time of 3.50.6.

- Great, powerful and fantastic achievement, says Blomquist.

Thus, she reduces Lina Korsgren's time of 3.52.08 from last year by more than two minutes.

Before the Swede's record last year, no female skier had ever been under four minutes.

The Norwegian can also enjoy the extra in that she gets 98,000 kronor in victory prize and another 50,000 kronor in bonus for the record time.

Lina Korsgren got off to a rough start and was never close in this race.
