English Premier League matches will not be broadcast in China this weekend.

The BBC reported that "Chinese TV broadcasters have decided not to broadcast the Premier League matches to send a message of support to Ukraine during and before and after the match."

The English Premier League has prepared various programs to send a message of solidarity to Ukraine about the recent Russian invasion of Ukraine.

This weekend, 20 Premier League clubs will make the color of the captain's armband a combination of yellow and blue, the colors of the Ukrainian flag, and will also display a message of support for Ukraine on the big screen of the stadium with the color of the Ukrainian flag as a background.

These messages will also appear on the ground billboards during matches.

China is taking a favorable position with Russia, which has invaded Ukraine, yesterday (4th), including abstaining from a vote on the adoption of a resolution to establish a UN Human Rights Council investigation committee on alleged human rights violations by Russia.

The BBC said, "I asked the Premier League about the content that was not broadcast in China, but the league secretariat refused to answer."

In 2019, China also excluded the Premier League match between Arsenal and Manchester City from the broadcast schedule.

At the time, Arsenal's German midfielder Mesut Özil had posted on his social media account about the human rights of Uyghurs in China.
