Second division soccer club Schalke 04 quickly found a new main sponsor after parting ways with Gazprom.

As the club announced on Saturday morning, the lettering of the housing company Vivawest adorns the jersey of the Royal Blues "from now on".

The parties involved have agreed not to disclose further details of the partnership.

“The terrible events in Ukraine call for all of us to stand together and stand up.

With this in mind, we are entering into a temporary partnership with Schalke 04 that is based on shared values,” said Uwe Eichner, CEO of Vivawest.

"New Era Begins"

Schalke's CEO Bernd Schröder explained: “The talks with Vivawest were characterized by great appreciation and a shared basis of values.

With this partnership, a new era begins at Schalke.”

The deal is also "a positive signal to our fans and partners with a view to the medium-term financial planning and our corporate bond that is planned shortly," Schröder explained.

However, the financial ability to act was "always given" anyway, he claimed.

The Royal Blues prematurely ended their long-standing partnership with Gazprom following the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The contract originally ran until mid-2025. In the second league, nine million euros were to flow from the Russian gas supplier every year, with a rise the sum would have risen to 15 million euros per season.
