A Belgian and a German win the "Iron Man Dubai" triathlon title

Belgian Martin Van Riel won the seventh edition of the Ironman Dubai Triathlon, beating 2,600 male and female athletes from 100 countries, from different continents of the world, who participated in the tournament that was held today, with the support of the Dubai Sports Council.

Van Riel completed the 113-kilometre race in a time of 3:26:06 hours, and included three competitions: swimming, cycling and running, while the German Laura Phelps, ranked No. 3 in the world, managed to win the women's title in a time of 03:53:03 hours, surpassing Swiss champion Daniela Reeve, ranked second in the world, finished second.

The winners were crowned by the Secretary-General of the Dubai Sports Council, Saeed Hareb, and the tournament director, Ahmed Al Hajj, in the presence of the Assistant Secretary-General of the Dubai Sports Council, Nasser Aman Al Rahma.

Denmark's Daniel Pike-Guard came second in the men's category, French Pierre Le Coeur came third, and Britain's Lotte Lucas came third.

46 Emirati male and female athletes participated in the tournament, including 40 men and six women, while the total number of male and female professionals reached 40, including 27 male professionals and 13 female professionals.
