SpVgg Greuther Fürth's second Bundesliga adventure is coming to an end.

The cloverleaf also lost 1:2 (0:1) to co-promoted VfL Bochum and continued their miserable away series.

With just one more point in foreign stadiums, the gap between the Franks and the first non-relegation zone has grown to eleven points nine laps before the end.

With the win against the bottom of the table, VfL ended a disappointing week with unfortunate defeats in the Bundesliga against RB Leipzig (0:1) and in the cup against SC Freiburg (1:2).

With 32 points, the Westphalians now have a nine-point lead over the relegation place.

Three days after the last-minute knockout against Freiburg, Maxim Leitsch of all people gave VfL the lead (35th minute).

The 23-year-old was responsible for the late goal in extra time with a technical error.

But Bochum's coach Thomas Reis had expressed his confidence in the central defender and called him back into the starting XI.

An own goal by Armel Bella Kotchap (64th) brought Fürth, who are still waiting for their first away win in the Bundesliga since May 4, 2013 (2-0 at VfB Stuttgart) when they were first relegated, to equalize.

Captain Anthony Losilla scored the winning goal for Bochum (71st).

For the first time since returning to the Bundesliga after eleven years, Bochum went into the game as the "favorites", as Reis confirmed, "but caution is advised".

In fact: Even though the hosts tried to control the game, Fürth were the first to indicate a real goal threat: Jeremy Dudziak, however, did not really control the ball in the six-yard box (14').

Bochum tried it mainly on the right flank with defender Christian Gamboa and winger Christopher Antwi-Adjei.

But the last pass was too imprecise.

The Fürther put isolated pinpricks, but without really hurting the opponent.

Significantly, a set piece gave Bochum the lead: After a free kick from Eduard Löwen, Fürth's keeper Andreas Linde deflected the ball first to the crossbar and then to the post, and Leitsch finally pushed it over the line.

After the change of sides, the hosts tried to control the game.

Despite being behind, Fürth hardly increased his attacking efforts - and equalized out of the blue: Bella Kotchap deflected a shot from Branimir Hrgota into her own goal.

Losilla's shot was also unluckily deflected into his own goal by an opposing player.
