Before the last leg, Ponsiluoma switched to Sebastian Samuelsson as second, 0.4 seconds behind France.
Samuelsson shot full on the first but before the second series, the Swede blocked two shots and went out as third.
But he did not give up.
Samuelsson approached Quentin Fillon Maille and over the crest he was ahead of the Frenchman.
Norway first, Sweden second, France third.
Germany will be four.
The Swedish men thus take their first podium place in the relay for the season.
