When SVT Sport gets to talk to Viljo Pettersson Dahl, he has just returned to his room from a training session.

There, he was relieved to take part in the International Paralympic Committee's (IPK) turnaround - that Russia and Belarus are excluded from the championship in Beijing.

- I was surprised yesterday when IPK did not put their foot down.

Unless the major international organization puts its foot down, they are shifting responsibility at the national and athletic levels.

There have been some discussions and reflections on how other nations will handle this, will they refuse to play?

I'm glad we can put those discussions behind us and focus on curling.

Although he fully supports the decision, he feels sorry for the 71 Russians who are allowed to return home.

- I suffer with the Russian athletes.

They are also innocent and have no role in this.

Unfortunately, it is a situation where there are no winners, everyone is a loser it feels like.

If you look purely sportingly, a strong opponent disappears in curling in Russia, but that is not something Pettersson Dahl attaches any greater importance to.

- If everything had been peace and joy, I want the best teams in the world to be here and compete against each other.

It is sad that it loses a team at the same time as it was necessary.

But purely sporting, I do not think we have a greater chance.

It's still a job to be done.

We have to win many matches and it is not certain that Russia would have been in the top five or better.
