Yuzuru Hanyu, a figure skating player, will miss the World Championships in France from the end of this month due to an injury to his right ankle.

This was announced by the Japan Skating Federation on the afternoon of March 1st.

Hanyu aimed to win the men's single for the third consecutive time at the Beijing Olympics last month, but he was lacking in jumping and finished fourth.

Hanyu revealed to subsequent interviews that he had hurt his right ankle during practice before the Olympic free performance.

The Japan Skating Federation has announced that Hanyu will miss the world championships on the 1st, saying that the injured right ankle has not completely healed.

Kao Miura, who finished 4th in last year's All Japan Championship, will replace Hanyu.
