The Swedish national team player Jim Gottfridsson has, to say the least, had a successful season.

In addition to the success of his club team, he recently lifted the European Championship trophy.

Now he can be praised.

The 29-year-old is one of five players who have a chance to be named the world's best player.

He is, together with Alex Dusjebajev (Spain / Kielce), Ludovic Fabregas (France / Barcelona), Mathias Gidsel (Denmark / GOG) and Niklas Landin (Denmark / Kiel), nominated by the International Handball Federation.

Gottfridsson was involved in winning World Cup silver in January last year and the award applies to achievements during last year.

Magnus Wislander (1990) and Mia Hermansson Högdahl (1994) are the only Swedish players to receive this award.
