The British newspaper "Mirror" revealed the value of the financial prizes obtained by the first-place teams in the League Cup, which concluded on Sunday with the coronation of Liverpool FC.

In the final match that took place at Wembley Stadium in London, Liverpool won the League Cup after beating Chelsea 11-10 on penalties, after the end of the match with a goalless draw in normal time and overtime.

The British newspaper pointed out that the total prize money for the League Cup amounts to 200,000 pounds (about 267,000 dollars), allocated to the top four teams.

And Arsenal and Tottenham - who were eliminated from the tournament in the semi-finals - received 25,000 pounds (about 33,000 dollars).

The runner-up Chelsea received 50 thousand pounds (about 67 thousand dollars), while the crowned Liverpool received 100 thousand pounds (about 133,000 dollars), less than half the weekly salary of defender Virgil van Dijk.

And the British newspaper pointed out that the value of these prizes is much less than in the FA Cup, which offers financial prizes that increase in value with the final rounds, and the winner of this season is guaranteed to get at least 3.4 million pounds (about 4.5 million dollars).

The incomes of the teams may increase after calculating the proceeds from the sale of tickets and television broadcasting rights for the matches.

Yesterday, Sunday, Liverpool crowned the League Cup for the ninth time in its history, to be at the forefront of the most titled clubs, outperforming Manchester City, who won the championship 8 times, by a single title.
