Earlier this week, Vasaloppet announced that it will not hoist the Russian flag during this year's event.
Now it has also been decided to stop Russian and Belarusian skiers from competing in the competition next Sunday.
- Together with other long-distance race organizers, we have jointly decided not to allow Russian participation in races in Vasaloppet's winter week and the remaining five competitions included in the international long-distance race cup Visma Ski Classics this season, says Johan Eriksson, CEO of Vasaloppet.
The decision will affect about 90 Russian participants who signed up.
