Brazil coach Tite confirmed that he "will not lie" this time, and that he will leave his post after the end of this year's World Cup in Qatar.

The 60-year-old took over in 2016 and helped Brazil qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, where the team was knocked out in the quarter-finals against Belgium.

Tite has always said that he wants to take charge of the team "for one full cycle" from the World Cup to the next, and confirmed this in an interview with Brazilian television station Sportv on Friday.

Referring to his earlier perjury, Tite said, "I will not lie. I will stay until the end of the World Cup (in Qatar). I have won everything in my career and all that is left is the World Cup."

Tite previously trained Corinthians, Gremio and Internacional, and led the Brazilian national team in 70 matches, winning 51 of them and losing only 5 times.

Tite led Brazil to win the Copa America on home soil in 2019, but was also responsible for the team last year when Brazil fell to Argentina in the final.

That 1-0 defeat was Brazil's only loss since November 2019.

Brazil is one of the favorites for the World Cup in Qatar, and it was one of the first teams to qualify for the finals, which begins on November 21, and did not lose in the South American qualifiers.
