A rare event .. a player confesses to the referee and asks him to cancel a goal

In a rare event in football stadiums, one of the players of the Azerbaijani Karabakh club asked the referee of his team's match against French Marseille in the second leg of the qualifying playoff to the final price of the Conference League football competition, to cancel a goal scored because he used his hand.

The Azerbaijani team lost the first leg to Marseille 1-3 and was left behind at the beginning of the match in Baku with a goal by Senegalese Bab Guy (12),

The incident occurred in the 34th minute, when the Senegalese Kara Bagh player, Ibrahima Wadjee, scored a clear goal with his hand, which Marseille players protested a lot, especially in the absence of the assistant referee technology "VIR" in this competition.

In a charged atmosphere between the players of the two teams, Wadjee went to his coach, Gurban Gurbanov, before they exchanged a conversation with the Polish referee, Bartosz Frankowski, and persuaded him to cancel the goal after the Senegalese player admitted that he touched the ball with his hand before scoring.

The match resumed after being stopped for about ten minutes due to this incident.

The Continental Confederation said on the live commentary platform for this match, "The coach of Qara Bagh asked the player Wadji if he scored the goal with his hand, and he replied positively, so the home team asked the referee to cancel the goal. It is a rare and sporting act."
