The Moroccan government decided to open football stadiums to the public as of Friday, after a meeting held by Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch with the President of the National Federation of Popular Game, Faouzi Lekaa, after the health situation related to the Covid-19 pandemic recently improved.

The Moroccan government’s decision to open football stadiums to the public came based on the recommendations of the Scientific Committee, and in view of the recent positive developments regarding the Corona pandemic in the country.

Lakjaa asked the club heads to provide all the things required to implement the government's decision, which will be monitored by several government sectors, stressing that any stadium, team or audience that does not adhere to the procedures will be punished.

Lekjaa said that he had contacted the President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in order for the Moroccan clubs - Raja, Wydad and Nahdet Berkane - to benefit from their fans in the two continental club championships, and that a decision in this regard would be issued in the coming hours.

The Moroccan Football Association will hold a meeting soon to prepare for the two matches of the Moroccan national team with the Democratic Republic of the Congo, in the decisive round of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
