Cuban boxer Herrera: The people's welcome in Dubai is what I liked the most... and ready for Saturday's fight

The Cuban boxer, and the grandson of the legend Angel Herrera, Gadir Herrera Monteiro, said that what he liked the most in Dubai is the welcome he received from everyone from the moment he arrived, until a few days ago, to prepare for the historic fight that will bring him together next Saturday at the Emirates Golf Club in Dubai against Filipino Mark John Yap.

Herrera said in a press statement on the sidelines of a training session that Saturday's match is his first fight for a title, which makes him tense at the moment, but he promised to maintain his composure when in the ring and give everything he has to win.

Herrera, who won all five of his fights in his nascent professional career, added that he did not know much about his opponent, Mark John Yap, and continued, "I don't know much about him, I only know that he is older than me and more experienced, for me he has armed with more than 100 amateur fights. This match will definitely be different and I will strive to win."

The 19-year-old boxer indicated that his grandfather is an inspiration to enter the world of boxing, and said, "My grandfather and all my family are boxing, he has won medals and certainly this makes me proud of that, for me I did not participate in the Olympics."

About his dreams and goals behind professional boxing, Jadir Herrera said: "My dream is to become famous in the whole world. I want to be a legend in boxing, and to help my family in Cuba."

The organizing committee of the fight announced that the "VVIP" tickets were completely sold out, while the price of "VIP" tickets amounted to 349 dirhams, while the regular entry price is 199 dirhams, and that the press conference will be held tomorrow.
