Football Khimki announced the appointment of Sergey Yuran as head coach.

According to the Championship portal, a contract with him was signed for 1.5 years.

The specialist has already joined the team that is holding a training camp in Turkey.

The mentor faces the difficult task of maintaining a place in the Premier League, as the Moscow Region team is now in the last line in the standings, gaining 14 points in 18 matches.

However, Yuran has experience of working in such a difficult situation.

He has already held a similar position twice at Khimki, and in 2008 the club was also struggling for survival.

At that time, everything was successful.

As the specialist notes, he will try to repeat this result with the team.

“For me, the team, the feeling of unity and complete dedication are very important.

If it happens, Khimki will have a successful ending.

It is important that the team brought together skillful and experienced players.

It’s a pity that I didn’t spend a single training camp with the team.

There are only three days before the restart of the championship, we have a difficult calendar, but I believe in the guys.

For me, this is a big challenge.

In addition, I am very happy to return home, ”the press service of the Moscow Region club quotes the coach.

The time to change the mentor of Khimki was chosen not the most suitable, since already on February 26 the players will have to play with one of the leaders of the RPL - Dynamo Moscow.

And the coach has practically no time to get to know the players.

Igor Cherevchenko worked with the athletes all winter.

With this specialist, the team took a record eighth place in the Russian championship last season, but problems began in the current championship.

The leadership of the Moscow Region club wanted to change their mentor back in the fall: on October 25, it was announced that the contract with the head coach was terminated and Igor Yushchenko led several meetings with the players.

However, it seems that all the candidates at that moment refused to save Khimki, and 25 days later Cherevchenko returned to the team.

During the off-season, the search for a new coach ended more successfully, but took longer than planned.

As a result, Khimki management settled on Yuran.

As Khimki General Director Vladimir Gabulov noted, they quickly found a common language and will now develop the club together.

“When choosing a mentor, we proceeded from personal and professional qualities, as well as the ability to quickly establish contact with the team.

At the first meeting, we immediately found a common language - it is very important that we will work in the same direction with the coaching staff.

Sergey Nikolayevich is well acquainted with the specifics of our football, he has the necessary experience in solving problems in such a difficult situation.

I wish success to the new coaching staff!”

— said the former footballer.

In turn, Roman Teryushkov, a member of the club's supervisory board, noted that Yuran would be able to rally the players with his charisma.

“This is his third parish, in 2020 I was also the initiator of the invitation of Sergei Nikolayevich.

Then Khimki reached the final of the Russian Cup, played with Zenit, it was almost enough to win.

Now the team is made up of good specialists, but we lack some kind of unity, emotions.

Juran can just completely close this gap with his charisma.

It is clear that there is little time left before the start of the second part of the RPL.

I know the coach, he can do this task, ”Championship” quotes him as saying.

The club parted ways with Cherevchenko calmly and without any misunderstanding on the part of the coach.

As Teryushkov explained, there was initially a short-term agreement with him.

“He completed the task of last season, kept the club in the RPL with the best result in history, but time is running out.

This year, Igor Gennadievich helped us out, returned to Khimki in November for four games, worked with the team at the training camp.

Then they asked Cherevchenko to support us, a number of problems arose in negotiations with the candidates.

I talked to the coaching staff at the training camp, there were no questions from the management.

Cherevchenko prepared the team for the start of the second part of the season.

It was not a very successful last match with Wings of the Soviets, but I am sure that the new mentor will be able to solve the problem, ”the specialist explained.

Juran did not sit idle until returning to Khimki.

He led SKA-Khabarovsk, which, after 25 matches, is fifth in the FNL and is fighting for promotion to the Premier League.

However, there were no problems with the termination of the contract.

Even at the beginning of the season, when signing the agreement, the coach set a condition for the management that it should not interfere with leaving if the specialist received an offer from the RPL.

Instead of Yuran, the club will most likely be led by Alexei Poddubsky.
