Next month, the Tokyo Marathon, which is scheduled for the first time in two years, will be held with general runners after being tested for the new coronavirus in advance.

However, the sponsoring foundation explains that there is a possibility that it will be canceled until the morning of the day depending on the infection situation in the future.

Last year, due to the spread of the infection, the Tokyo Marathon was once delayed for more than half a year to prepare for it, but it was virtually canceled due to the declaration of an emergency again.

This year is scheduled for the first time in two years on the 6th of next month.

The sponsored "Tokyo Marathon Foundation" held a board meeting on the 18th and confirmed the policy of holding it including general runners.

According to the Foundation, as an infection control measure, ▽ all runners will be tested in advance to prove negative, and ▽ they will be required to run at a distance of 1 meter or more from other runners.

On the other hand, 25,000 general runners have already entered the tournament, but we are planning to ask elderly people aged 65 and over who are at high risk of becoming seriously ill to forgo participation.

In addition, he explained that there is a possibility that it will be canceled until the morning of the day depending on the infection situation in the future.

Fumihiko Takeda, Executive Secretary of the Tokyo Marathon Foundation, said, "We have cleared the limit on the number of people in the guidance of the Japan Association of Athletics Federations, and we have accumulated sufficient measures while listening to the opinions of experts. I want to prepare for the event. "
