It was set for a thriller semifinal between the Russian team and Tre Kronor.

On paper, however, the Russian team were favorites.

The match started evenly where Tre Kronor spent a lot of time on the defensive game.

0-0 stood out the period.

But 15 seconds into the second period, the Russian team got off to a dream start after Anton Slepysjev nicely teased Lasse Johansson and found the net behind him.

Tre Kronor steamed on and entered the Russian zone several times.

But they had a hard time getting to dangerous goal chances.

1-0 stood before the third and final period.

Strong third period of Tre Kronor

Tre Kronor changed the chains a bit and came out brisk in the third period.

Seven minutes into the period, Tre Kronor's team captain Anton Lander was able to equalize.

Jonathan Pudas passed Henrik Tömmernes for control, but the puck bounced to Anton Lander who could put the puck in the open goal.

There were no more goals than that in regular time but the match ended 1-1.

Ten minutes of overtime and three against three games awaited.

Shake end where Sweden had a golden opportunity to decide

Both teams continued to attack and created a number of dangerous goal chances - but neither team managed to outsmart the goalkeepers and thus the second semifinal went to a penalty shootout.

Lasse Johansson played great during the match and continued to do so in the penalty shootout when he saved five penalties.

In the end, even Johansson could not resist these penalty specialists and Gritsjuk could then decide for the Russian team.

The Olympic final will be played on Sunday at 05.10, where the Russian team will face Finland.

The bronze match for Tre Kronor kicks off tomorrow Saturday at 14.10 against Slovakia.
