Erik Mobärg, 24, took World Cup bronze in Idre last year but was hardly a pre-favorite before the skicross competitions in the Beijing Olympics.

But the Swede from Åre to with a strong competition on the skicross slope in Zhangjiakou.

The 24-year-old impressed a lot and won his heats in both the quarterfinals, quarterfinals and semifinals.

Once in the Olympic final, he faced Alex Fiva, Ryan Regez and Sergey Ridzik.

After a weak start, however, he ended up behind immediately and had to chase after his competitors.

Despite the fact that he was several times close to overtaking the Russian Sergey Ridzik, the Swede finished in fourth place.

David Mobärg out already in the quarterfinals

Before the competitions, it was the younger brother, David Mobärg, who was the favorite among the Swedes.

But the 23-year-old's Olympic adventure ended already in the quarterfinals.

After the outing, he was noticeably disappointed.

- It feels crap, says David Mobärg to TT and continues:

- I got a small mistake in the start and got a little out of balance.

But I came in second and got my own track.

Then came the other and it's hard to get around, it's like a wall and not much to do on this course, says David Mobärg.

For the Swedes Elliott Baralo and Viktor Andersson, the Olympics ended already in the round of 16.
