Young Volunteers of the Winter Olympics: Rejoice in the prosperous age, live up to the prosperous age

  ◎Our reporter Zhang Gailun

The Beijing Winter Olympics are halfway through.

In TV footage and on social media, volunteers are often seen.

Tens of thousands of volunteers are working for the Beijing Winter Olympics.

They call themselves "Little Burning Snowflakes."

Most of the volunteers did not have too thrilling stories.

They convey kindness with smiles, and express responsibility with persistence.

They are serving and enjoying the Winter Olympics.

Strive to make small jobs have some meaning

  "Look, Winter Olympic volunteers!"

Outside the Capital Gymnasium, a little boy called out their unified name - Volunteer, immaturely and excitedly when he saw the blue of volunteers.

  Volunteer Zhao Yilin heard it.

She waved to the little boy and raised her hand above her head, giving him a big love.

"You learn too!" The boy's mother slowed down.

So, the little boy stood not far in front of Zhao Yilin, and gave her a heartfelt comparison.

"I'm going to cheer for the Chinese team tonight!" Zhao Yilin said.

The boy nodded, shouted "Come on, come on" with his family, and walked away slowly.

This is one of the most touching moments after Zhao Yilin took up the post as a city volunteer.

She is a 2020 undergraduate at the School of Foreign Languages, Renmin University of China, from Beijing.

Zhao Yilin wanted to participate in the grand event at the door.

She also regretted not being able to become a volunteer for the tournament.

But standing in her post, she felt the connection between the job and the city.

Because of closed-loop management, citizens may not see the volunteers of the competition, but they can see the city volunteers at a glance.

"I try to make a small post more meaningful." Zhao Yilin said.

Gao Jialiu, a 2018 undergraduate majoring in International Economics and Trade from the School of Economics of Renmin University of China, is a volunteer in the volunteer field of the Capital Gymnasium.

"We are doing behind-the-scenes work. Anyway, it doesn't have to be me, it must be me." Gao Jialiu said with a smile.

Their main responsibility is to make volunteer work and life more comfortable.

Every day, volunteers have to travel to and from the venue from the station, and Gao Jialiu and his friends have to coordinate the vehicles.

This work requires patience and care: how many cars are needed, when to arrive, how to ride each car, what if someone wants to leave early or later... At the same time, we must also take into account the needs of epidemic prevention.

Gao Jialiu was awarded the title of "Big Bus" among the volunteers.

"As long as we exist and make volunteers feel more at ease, my work is worthwhile."

  special memory, special mission

Liu Peiyan, a Class 2020 undergraduate student in the Electronic Information Experimental Class of Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing Institute of Technology, is fighting for the Winter Olympics with his father.

He is a volunteer in the transportation field of the Shougang Grand Jumping Platform, within the closed loop.

My father is a public health worker, outside the closed loop.

The son is inside and the father is outside. In fact, the workplaces are not far apart.

Sometimes they would wave, say a few words, greet and cheer each other across the fence.

Two generations, with different identities, have contributed to the Winter Olympics.

For Liu Peiyan, it was a unique experience.

Being a volunteer for the Winter Olympics gave him many "firsts" in his life: for the first time, IOC President Bach walked past him; for the first time, he provided guidance services for so many foreign guests ; For the first time, I spent the New Year with volunteer students in a closed loop; for the first time, I got up at four o'clock in the morning and took the bus to the work place...

"This is definitely a time worth remembering. After all, how many times can an ordinary person participate in the Olympic Games hosted by his own country?" Liu Peiyan said.

For Beijinger Zhao Yilin, the memory related to the 2008 Beijing Olympics is wearing the clothes of the mascot Huanhuan and doing roller skating in a kindergarten show.

This time, as a city volunteer, she experienced the Winter Olympics with Beijing.

"I have always been raised under the care of my country and my hometown, and I have been receiving love and enjoying love. Now, I have changed from a lover to a lover, which also means a lot to me personally."

Zhao Yilin always remembers the little boy who shouted "Look, Winter Olympic Volunteer".

From the boy's perspective, on an early spring night, a strange little sister with a warm smile gave him a heart.

Zhao Yilin thought, maybe, maybe that little boy will plant the seeds of volunteering, or plant curiosity about ice and snow sports.

Go to the grand event together and look forward to the future together

Chen Mingzi, a 2018 undergraduate student of the School of Foreign Languages of the University of International Business and Economics, is a language service volunteer working in the Winter Olympic Village.

Before taking up their posts, in addition to learning the general courses required by volunteers, they also need to receive special language courses.

Chen Mingzi often interacts with athletes and feels their energy and enthusiasm up close.

Sometimes, athletes also say "thank you" to volunteers in Chinese.

"It's great that everyone is in harmony and living in harmony, as the Olympic motto says - 'more unity'."

Although the work is hard, Chen Mingzi feels more happiness.

Everyone is going to a grand event to surpass and challenge.

Gao Jialiu also felt the friendliness between people.

The Olympic badge culture is an important part of the Olympic culture. In order to express gratitude, the service objects will also give commemorative badges to volunteers.

Gao Jialiu has won a lot of badges, including the badges of the 2024 Paris Olympics and the 2026 Milan Winter Olympics.

The world is too big, and he wants to see it.

Gao Jialiu secretly made up his mind that if conditions permit, he really wants to experience Paris in 2024 and Milan in 2026.

"During this time, I often think of the slogan of the Beijing Winter Olympics, 'Together to the future'." Gao Jialiu said, in the grand and magnificent new era of historical coordinates, young people should be dream builders and dream chasers. Wind and snow, chasing the waves towards spring.
