  On February 8, the Swedish combination of curling mixed doubles Oscar Eriksson/Armida De Waal defeated the British team 9-3 to win the bronze medal of the event in the Beijing Winter Olympics.

It is reported that 25-year-old Armida De Waal is an employee of the Swedish company AkzoNobel. She took leave in early January to prepare for the Winter Olympics and said she would return to work the week of February 14.
