Real estate, land and money.. The President of Senegal honors the African champions after defeating Egypt

Senegalese President Macky Sall awarded the national football team with exceptional awards after winning the African Cup of Nations for the first time in its history.

The Tranga Lions won the cup after beating Egypt 4-2 on penalties, after the original and extra time ended in a goalless draw.

Tens of thousands of fans thronged the streets of the capital, Dakar, from the early hours of the morning after the victory, awaiting the arrival of the African champions.

Senegal won the title for the first time after 60 years of attempts, the last of which was losing the final to Algeria at the last African Nations Cup 2019.

According to Goal, the head of state awarded the players the highest honors, and said: "On behalf of the nation, the players and the rest of the official delegation will receive an exceptional reward each of 50 million CFA francs (about 87 thousand dollars) and a plot of land of 200 square meters in Dakar." .

The Senegalese president added, "Each person will also get a plot of land of 500 square meters to set up a memorial facility in Diamniadio, a new economic and industrial center about 45 kilometers from Dakar, and there will be the opening of the new National Stadium on February 22."

And the country's President Macky Sall declared Monday an official holiday in various parts of the country in order for the Senegalese people to celebrate this historic achievement.

It is worth noting that Senegal twice came close to winning the African title, but lost to Algeria in the 2019 final and to Cameroon in the 2002 final.
