JPC (= Japan Paralympic Committee) will hold the Beijing Paralympic Games next month in response to growing concerns that information may be extracted from the app that manages the health status of participants of the Beijing Olympics and Paralympics. We have decided to lend a smartphone to all the participating Japanese athletes to install the app.

At the Beijing Games, in order to manage the health status of athletes and related parties as a countermeasure against the infection of the new coronavirus, it is required to register daily body temperature etc. with a dedicated smartphone application.

However, there are growing concerns about this app that information may be extracted, such as the US Olympic Committee warning of the danger of information leakage.

In response to this situation, JPC decided to lend a smartphone to install this app to a total of 66 Japanese players including 25 Japanese players and team members who will participate in the Beijing Paralympics that will start on the 4th of next month. I did.

Participants in the tournament need to register their body temperature etc. with this app 14 days before arriving in Beijing, so JPC is preparing for the departure of the team in late February, and additional players will be added in the future. It is said that it will respond even if dispatch is decided.

Regarding this app, the government is calling attention to Japanese athletes who will participate in the Beijing Olympics, which is currently being held, by keeping the use to the minimum necessary and deleting it immediately after returning to Japan.
