The International Football Association (FIFA) announced that football fans from around the world requested more than 17 million tickets to attend the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, during the first sales phase, which lasted only 20 days, and concluded today, Tuesday, at 1 pm Doha time.

The figures indicated that fans from within the State of Qatar are the most likely to apply for match tickets.

The first stages of ticket sales confirmed the enthusiasm of fans for the upcoming tournament, as requests poured in during the period of allocating tickets by lottery system from various countries of the world, such as Argentina, Brazil, England, France, India, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and the United States of America.

The number of requests for tickets for the final match at Lusail Stadium - on December 18 next - reached 1.8 million ticket requests, to attend the closing of the first edition of the World Cup in the Arab world and the Middle East.

The FIFA Ticket Center will verify that requests submitted during the first sales phase - which started on January 19 - comply with the sales conditions and ticket requests restrictions for each family, before allocating tickets to their owners.

It is scheduled to communicate with all applicants to inform them of the success of their applications in whole or in part, or the lack of success of their applications for match tickets, starting from next Tuesday, 8 March, and to inform the successful applicants of all the steps they must follow, and the deadline for paying the value of tickets.

The FIFA Ticket Center will provide the necessary information regarding the second period of the first sales phase, which will witness the sale of tickets on a first-come-first-served basis.
