Sweden defeated Denmark 3-1 and snagged the third and final quarterfinal spot in Group B of the Olympics.

- In advance, it was a pretty tough match even though Sweden is the better team.

Of course Denmark wants to beat Sweden and it was an even match that in the end will be a warrior win for Sweden, says SVT's expert Maria Rooth.

Sweden ready for Olympic quarter-final - face horror resistance Photo: Bildbyrån

The requirement from outside Sweden was to qualify in advance for the quarter-finals of the Olympics - a goal they have now reached.

But if the journey is to continue longer than that, a miracle is now required.

"Zero percent chance"

The women's crowns are set against the giant Canada, which was completely superior in the group A (the seeded group).

33-5 in goal difference and four straight wins speak their clear language.

- As I see it, Sweden has a zero percent chance.

It is impossible for Sweden to move forward.

But they are happy to disprove me ... The way Canada has played has been incredibly good, they leave nothing to chance.

All aspects of the match are important to them, says Rooth.

The Canadian team, for example, defeated Finland 11-1.

The question is how much can run away when they face Sweden?

- It could run away a lot.

It will be the task for Ulf Lundberg and the others to get Sweden to play in a smarter and more controlled way than before.

It's about playing easy, easy, easy, says Rooth.

How do you think as a player before a match like this?

- I have played against Canada many times and can relate to the feeling that you will not win the match.

There are times like this when you know in advance that it will be too tough, but you can still do good things.

Take it step by step and focus on making the next change as good as possible.

It will be incredibly important not to go outside the box, but to play based on what you have decided before, says Rooth.

But there is a lot to build on from this Olympics to the future, says SVT's expert.

- This team has many years ahead of it to play good hockey.

It will be a shock to Canada.

But they have a lot to learn and take with them to the future.

because this is a future team that Sweden has on the field now.

The Canada – Sweden quarter final will be played on Friday, 14:10 Swedish time.
