According to a report by the Stuttgarter Nachrichten, wild animals are causing problems in the football arena of VfB Stuttgart.

The animals, which are said to be red foxes (Vulpes vulpes), should not only leave faeces in the stands, but also bite the seats for business spectators, according to sources close to the operating company.

The damage should already amount to a five to six-digit sum.

One of those involved told the newspaper from Stuttgart with much irony that the animals would not adhere to any accreditation projects.

To prevent this, the entire stadium would have to be made burglar-proof.

Even small loopholes were enough for the foxes to get into the arena.

It is estimated that there are currently at least 3,000 city foxes in Stuttgart.

They found plenty of food on the streets and in the garbage cans.

The report also said that Stuttgart as a whole had a wildlife problem.

Foxes, martens, raccoons would often be found in the city.

They would show up especially in commercial areas.

VfB, threatened with relegation, welcomes Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday (3.30 p.m. in the FAZ live ticker for the Bundesliga and on Sky).

For the first time in months, up to 10,000 spectators will be in the stadium again.

The fact that these are otherwise missing and that no stadium tours are possible should be the reason why the foxes have settled in the Stuttgart home ground in the first place.
